Vignole's Design - DECORATIVE EARTHENWARE STOVE - Antique Print -1762

RARE, HAND-COLOURED VIGNOLE DESIGN ENGRAVING

This 251 year old print is from Jacque Barozzi's (Also called Vignole) "REGLES DES CINQ ORDRES D'ARCHITECTURE" published in Paris in 1764.

Giacomo (or Jacopo) Barozzi or (Barocchio) da Vignola (often simply called Vignola) (1507 –  1573) was one of the great Italian architects of 16th century.  His two great masterpieces are the Villa Farnese at Caprarola and the Jesuits' Church of the Gesù in Rome. The three architects who spread the Italian Renaissance style throughout Western Europe are Vignola, Serlio and Palladio.

This large copper engraving print (the size of the picture) is about 13" x 9" on a page that is about 15 1/2" x 10".  It is in  good condition with natuaral age toning.  It is on fine, hand made, laid paper.  It is suitable for framing and would be an excellent gift.
