RARE, ANTIQUE PRINT OF SICILIAN COINS This 314 year old print is from "LA SICILIA DI FILIPPO PARUTA DESCRITTA CON MEDAGLIE, E RISTAMPTA CON AGGIUNTA DA LEONARDO AGOSTINI" from a book by Marco Maier dated 1697.The coins depected on this print are ancient coins in circulation in Sicily mainly when the country was ruled by Rome and Greece. The coins of Greek Sicily are considered among the finest numismatic works of art ever produced. The Author, Filippo Paruta lived between 1550 and 1629 while Leonardo Agostini between 1593 and 1670. This copper engraving print has an image that is about 7" x 10" on a leaf or page that is 9" x 14". It is in very good condtion but is somewhat yellowed due to age (You would be too at 314 years of age). It is suitable for framing and would be an excellant gift for a print collector or a coin collector. This is a Rare Print. Although the book is listed in several rare book sites and is in several of the best museums, I cannot find the book or a print for sale at this time.
