Louden's Wild Flowers - "PHEASANT'S EYE" - Hand Colored Lithograph - 1846
This 171 year old print is from Jane Louden's "BRITISH WILD FLOWERS" published in London in 1846. Important botanical work.
Jane Wells Webb Loudon (1807 – 1858) was an English author and early pioneer of science fiction. She also created the first popular gardening manuals, as opposed to specialist horticultural works.
The print is in very good condition, with minimal, usual age toning. The image is about 9 1/2 " x 7 " on a page that is 11 " x 8 1/2 ". (blank on back) It is signed in print by Lizars. The engraving is suitable for framing and would be an excellent gift.
