From Denis Diderot s ENCYCLOPEDIE from 1751-72. This unframed and unmounted copper engraving print is in very good condition. There is usual age toning of the paper and it is blank on verso. Engraved by Bernard Direxit. This rare engraving helps demonstrate the MANUFACTURE OF SILK in the 1770s. It features the people doing the job and the machinery and utensils that they used.
