ANTIQUE ANIMAL PRINTS These 257 year old prints by Jacques de Seve are from Buffon's "HISTOIRE NATURAL" in 1760. Jacques Eustache de Sève (1742-1788) was the main artist commissioned by Buffon for his "Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière" (1749-1760). He was one of the first artists to use complete scenes including landscape backgrounds, which influenced later natural history illustrators. |
