This 104 year old lithograph sketch is from the book "THE GIBSON BOOK" by Charles Dana Gibson dated 1907. The publisher was Charles Scribner Sons of New york.

Gibson was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts  He was enrolled by his parents in the Art Students League, Manhattan.  Peddling his pen-and-ink sketches, he sold his first work in 1886 to John Ames Mitchell's Life. His works appeared weekly in the magazine for over 30 years. He quickly built a wider reputation, his humorous works appearing in all the major New York publications, Harper's Weekly, Scribners and Collier's. The development of the Gibson Girl from 1890 and her nationwide fame made Gibson respected and wealthy.

This engraved print has an image that is about 13" x 9" on a page that is 17" x 11".  It is in very good condtion and it is suitable for framing and would be an excellent gift.
